St. Winefride’s Catholic is a small primary school in a semi-rural environment. Its character is defined by it being a church school enjoying strong, supportive links with church and parish which enrich pupils’ religious, spiritual, moral and social education.
In our school we want everyone, pupils and staff, to feel valued and value others so that everyone can achieve their full potential. We are an open school in which parents are most welcome to discuss any issues concerning their child with the teacher.
Our experienced, committed teachers pride themselves on delivering the National Curriculum, while maintaining the standards and teaching of the Catholic Faith, irrespective of their faith background. We aim to provide high quality education for each child by providing a broad, balanced and enriching curriculum, providing a range of first hand experiences motivates and inspires the children.
The school aims to recruit excellent teaching staff. It is not a requirement for prospective teachers to be of the Catholic faith, though we do insist that they are sensitive to our school ethos and mission, prepared to teach the Catholic RE syllabus and take part in acts of Collective Worship. Staff are appointed in line with current safeguarding procedures and all staff have current Safeguarding training.
The school is situated in a relatively affluent area but serves pupils from a wider geographical area; housing is a mixture of private and local authority owned homes, encompassing a wide socio-economic spectrum. At present, all children are taught in single age classes.
